Act On What You Desire

Why do we let outside influences take us away from what we really want to be accomplishing with our lives? This has been a struggle for me and maybe you as well. There will always be responsibilities to meet in life, and we must take the necessary action to meet those responsibilities. However, what sets the people that achieve their major goals apart from those that do not. What is the difference that enables those who have set up their life to be exactly (or close to it) how they want to to be? The difference is that first they have done the necessary exploring to determine exactly what it is that THEY want. Not what their parents, or peers, or church, or any other group wants for them. What they want for THEMSELVES. Secondly, they have taken the time to determine what it will take to make what they want a reality. This means sacrificing time spent doing other things and applying their focus and attention for this purpose. This may mean sacrificing some relatively enjoyable experiences in order to make this happen. Thirdly, they have manifested their ideas and plans into ACTION. Figuring out what we want is very important, and determining a plan of action is even better, but without actually implementing that plan it's a lot of mental energy that's been spent without any results. I've experienced this and it can be torturous. There are many reasons why action is not taken. This can be the fact that instead we need to work in order to meet our immediate financial obligations. Or we plan on acting on our plan after work but by that time we are mentally and physically exhausted and we just don't perform as well and give up even trying. It can also be the fact that we don't truly believe that we can pull it off. That our goal is better suited for someone better, or more knowledgeable, or more prepared than we are. Someone with more experience. I've listened to a lot of very successful people at this point, and one of the most universal messages coming from this group of people is that when you're starting out you never feel ready and you're never completely confident that you're going to pull it off. But you chip away at it every day. Expect problems, and when they arise be prepared to think on your feet and figure them out. Your brain is your number one asset. It's all you need so be prepared to use it. Once we master it then there's nothing we can't accomplish.
